NTR – The name of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao needs no introduction in not only Telugu Cinema but also for the Indian Cinema. Today is the 95th Jayanthi of Sr NTR.
Today is the 95th Jayanthi of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, who is popularly known as NTR. Legend NTR was born on 28th May 1923 into a small farming family in the village of Nimmakuru in Krishna District. The name NTR itself strikes a visual in a person’s mind which comprises of the amazing personality, great facial expressions, and perfect Telugu Diction.
He was an actor, producer, director, editor and politician who served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years over three terms. NTR received three National Film Awards for co-producing Thodu Dongalu and Seetharama Kalyanam under National Art Theater, Madras, and directing Varakatnam. NTR also received Rashtrapati Awards for his performance(s) in the films Raju Peda and Lava Kusa.
His popular movies are Pathala Bhairavi, Maya Bazaar, Ramudu – Bheemudu, Dana Veera Soora Karna, Missamma, Gundamma Katha, Bobbili Puli, Vetagadu etc. NTR also portrayed negative characters like Ravana and Duryodhana in a heroic way.
NTR made his debut as an actor in a Telugu social film Mana Desam, in 1949, in the direction of L. V. Prasad but gained popularity in the 1950s when he became well known for his portrayals of Krishna and Rama roles. He later became popular for Robin Hood-esque hero characters in films. He starred in 300 films. “Inthavadni Inthavadini Ayyanu” was the first dialogue Sr. NTR delivered on screen for ‘Manadesam’ which was released on 24th November 1949.
NTR entered politics when he founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on 29 March 1982 in Hyderabad. He will forever remain in the hearts of Telugu people for his peerless services to the Telugu community.
Nara Bhuvaneswari, the wife of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s wife Brahmani visited NTR Ghat in Hyderabad today on Monday morning morning and offered floral tributes on the occasion of NTR 95th Jayanthi. Nara Devansh, the grandson of CM Naidu and son of Lokesh was also present there. Harikrishna, the son of NT Rama Rao, also paid respects.. He was accompanied by his sons, Kalyanram and Jr. NTR. Several other party leaders offered their tributes and raised slogans in support of NTR.
