Mahanati is a biopic on the rise and fall of legendary actress Savitri. Mahanati traces the life of Savitri from 1940s to 1980s and the iconic actress is brought alive on screen through Samantha Akkienei’s eyes. Nag Ashwin’s Savitri biopic ‘Mahanati’ starring Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya, Bhanu Priya, Shalini Pandey, Krish, Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Tulasi, Divyavan, Vijay Deverakonda and others. Keerthy Suresh played the role of Savitri in Mahanati whereas Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan essayed Gemini Ganesan, the husband of Savitri. Mahanati’s Tamil version titled as as Nadaigaiyar Thilagam, was released on 11th May 2018.
Recently Mega producer Allu Aravind threw a party for the film’s cast and crew to celebrate the success of Mahanati.
Mahanati is jointly produced by C. Ashwini Dutt, Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt under the banners of Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema. Mickey J Meyer composed the music of Mahanati.
Mahanati has earned $2 Million at USA Box Office in just 10 days. Earning $2 million is a massive thing, but that’s not the only thing that a woman centric movie- Mahanati has achieved. It is also the 11th Telugu film to register this feat in America.
