The first trailer of Mowgli has been released on the internet and it’s offers one of the darkest takes yet on Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale. Warner Bros. has unveiled the first trailer of Mowgli which seems to be a dark adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic The Jungle Book. The live action film Mowgli is helmed by Planet of the Apes actor Andy Serkis that features hybrid motion capture CGI and live-action, a bit like the other Jungle Book from Disney. Rohan Chand is playing the lead role in Mowgli.
The two minutes long trailer introduced the character of Mowgli who is imprisoned in a wooden cage. He’s told by his friend Bagheera, voiced by Christian Bale, “When you were a cub, I looked you in the eye and saw no fear.” Sher Khan makes a brief appearance with a growling “My, my, how you’ve grown.” The mo-cap performances of the animals look absolutely brilliant.
Along with Mowgli trailer, a behind-the-scenes featurette sees Serkis outlining his creative vision for the film. He said, “It’s not so much a child’s fairytale. This has a reality. There is real consequence.”
Mowgli also starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Freida Pinto in important roles.
Christian Bale voices Bagheera, Benedict Cumberbatch plays Shere Khan and Cate Blanchett plays Kaa. Serkis, a veteran of motion capture acting, plays Baloo.
Mowgli is all about the story of a human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he gets acquainted with the harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of the friendly bear Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes one among the animals of the jugle and is accepted by them as their own clan except dreadful Sher Khan.
Mowgli is scheduled to hit the theaters worldwide on 19th October 2018.
