Last year, hundreds of women across the country liberated themselves through the hashtag #MeToo, in which survivors of sexual harassment and assault came forward on social media. Till date many actors and other celebrities voiced their personal life experiences that have impacted their lives adversely.
Recently former Miss Universe and Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen took the centre stage at an event in Mumbai and opened up about an incident of her life when a teenage boy misbehaved with her, where she was asked to comment on the issue of women’s safety in the country.
Sushmita Sen said, “ It happened six months ago. I was at an awards function. And because there were so many men, he thought I would not figure out who it was. A fifteen year old boy misbehaved with me. I grabbed his hand, and I was so shocked when I pulled him up, that he was so young. He was just 15 years old.”
Sushmita Sen further said, “I held the boy by his neck and took him for a walk. I told him if I make a hue and cry, his life would be over. Later the young boy realised his mistake, said sorry and promised me that he will never do this again.”
Sushmita Sen let the boy go after making him realise the gravity of his mistake. Sushmita Sen said, “I did not take any legal action against the boy because I understood that the 15-year-old boy was not taught that such things are an offence and not entertainment.”
Sushmita Sen concluded it by saying that the grown men who are in our country indulging in worse and gang rapes, they should be hanged without a doubt. There should be no mercy for it.
Sushmita Sen entered Bollywood in 1996 after winning the Miss Universe title. Sushmita Sen made her debut with Dastak which was turned out flop at the box office, but she was noticed.
Bollywood beauty Sushmita Sen was last seen in Bengali film Nirbaak. She is now more engaged with her humanitarian works than films.
