Many members of the Kollywood film community decided to boycott Filmfare Awards as the organizers the Filmfare Awards refused to pay the donation.  The reason to not attend the Filmfare Awards show was taken by Kollywood star Vishal when Filmfare refused to pay the donation demanded by Nadigar Sangam.

Nadigar Sangam also thanked Nayantara, Khushbu Sundar, Vijay Sethupathi and Karthi who boycotted the Filmfare Awards event and did not attend the event. According to Vishal, as the organizers of Filmfare Awards event did not cooperate so they decided to boycott the Filmfare Awards event.

According to the Nadigar Sangam, “In past, number of stars from the film industry have participated and many of them have performed in such type of film related functions, award ceremonies, TV programs and cultural programs. But now days,  the award events have taken commercial twists. Organizers are earning huge money.” Recently  in Nadigar Sangam special meeting, the members have taken the decision  that only actors will take part in such type of events in which they are paid or when the organization contribute the donations to Nadigar Sangam and Tamil Film Producer Council.

The sources say that the donation that Nadigar Sangam had asked from the organizers of Filmfare Awards that had started much before the concept of sponsorship and TV rights, refused to pay.

On the otherside, few Kollywood  stars like Amala Paul, Catherine Tresa, Prasanna, Sneha, Aditi Balan, Madhavan and Nithya Menen attended the Filmfare Awards event.
