Recently during the media interaction, Anando Brahma and Ghazi actress Taapsee Pannu talked about sexual harassment, casting couch and abuse in Film Industry. She also opened up Why #MeToo and #TimesUp haven’t come to the Bollywood yet.
Taapsee Pannu said, “Many of the Bollywood actress who have faced sexual harassment, are not coming forward because they fear being judged and shamed whereas few have already spoken about abuse but did not reveal the name of anyone. The #MeToo Campaign which sparked off a movement in Hollywood, is yet to arrive in Bollywood.”
Taapsee Pannu further said, “I didn’t face any sexual harassment in this entertainment industry but i am not saying that it doesn’t happen here.” She added, “Few actresses feel that if they will open up about harassment then whatever name and fame they have earned in the film Industry, will be spoiled. and people will also not give any support to them. They will think, this is a cheap way of publicity.”
The actress further said, “While Hollywood actresses are naming and shaming their abusers, here in our Film Industry, actress have maintained silence on this topic.” Taapsee Pannu added, “Especially for the girls who have no family here. So may be that insecurity really haunts them and that holds them back.”
On the workside, Taapsee Pannu currently featured in the short film ‘Nitishastra’ helmed by Kapil Verma. The film which will highlight the issue of rape, is presented by ‘Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films’, in which Taapsee Paanu will be seen playing the role of a self defense teacher.
Judwaa 2 fame Taapsee Paanu also talked about her upcoming project and said, “I have a very powerful role in upcoming movie Badla in which I will be seen sharing the screen space with Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan.” Badla is a murder mystery, being directed by Sujoy Ghosh and produced by Sunir Kheterpal.
Apart from this, Taapsee Paanu will be also seen in Telugu film Neevevaroo starring Aadhi Pinisetty, and Ritika Singh in the lead roles.
