Italian woman (a banker) was raped in a moving car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on 14th June by a tour guide, on pretext of showing Amitabh Bachchan‘s house in Juhu.
A 37-year-old Italian woman was visiting India and was on a sightseeing tour of Mumbai when the incident took place. Italian woman stated in her complaint that she had met the accused during a bus tour and he introduced himself as a tour guide. He told the victim (Italian woman) that he would show her the bungalow of Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, which was close by, and promised to drop her back to her Colaba hotel.
The Police said that the victim (Italian woman), filed a complaint on Friday, has stated that on the day of the incident, she had boarded a bus as part of a sightseeing tour of Mumbai and she met the accused during the bus tour. He introduced himself as a tour guide and the victim hired his services. At 7 pm in Juhu that day, the accused (tour guide) forced the woman to consume alcohol in the car. When she resisted, the accused groped her. The woman fought back, but the accused continued to assault her, after which he raped her in the vehicle. He also threatened the Italian banker not to talk about the incident with anyone.
Police said that the victim (Italian woman) approached the Italian Embassy which asked her to register a case with the local police. Based on her complaint, a ‘Zero FIR’ was lodged at Colaba police station which was then transferred to Juhu police station where this shameful incident occurred.
The Juhu Police official said,” The rape case has been filed and the police teams are in the search of accused. The victim (Italian woman) had come to India in December last year and she arrived in Mumbai on 11th June.
