One hasn’t anticipated that 2020 will be a disastrous year. This is the year one could never forget. COVID-19 has struck the World so hard that everyone is affected in one way or the other. Telugu Film Industry is one of the worst affected industries in the country.
There are no releases from the past three months and there are no shootings as well. Six months in the year have gone by and let us have a look at the first-half report for Tollywood.
2020 gave a good start for Tollywood. Both the biggies Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapuramulo turned into blockbusters. Sarileru Neekevvaru is Mahesh’s biggest grosser while Ala Vaikunthapuramulo broke few records and emerged as a non-Baahubali blockbuster. For the Sankranthi Kalyan Ram’s Entha Manchivadavura released but was outrightly rejected. So is Ravi Teja’s Disco Raja and Naga Shourya’s Aswathama which released towards the end of January.
February is no different with only Nithiin’s Bheeshma being successful. Jaanu, World Famous Lover turned up as the biggest disaster. Vishwak Sen’s HIT ended up as average grosser. Coming to the March, Palasa 1978, Madha got decent reviews but hasn’t generated decent money. Post these there are no releases. Overall it is the biggest disaster six months Tollywood has ever seen.
