Road blockades within cities and on highways of Telangana State, apart from rallies and protests, marks the Bharat Bandh on Tuesday by farmers in protest against “anti-farmer laws” passed by the Centre. A day before Bharat Bandh’ call given by opposition parties against the new farm laws brought in by the NDA government, Telangana CM KCR instructed the officials to release Rs 7,300 Cr as financial assistance under the scheme of Rythu Bandhu.
The bandh is being supported by ruling TRS, Opposition Congress and Left parties, several trade and employees’ unions in addition to various other organisations. KCR had earlier said his party would actively support Bharat Bandh.
Bharat Bandh will start at 8 am on 8thDecember and ends at 3 pm across the state. Several trade, and auto workers’ unions are also extending support to the farmers’ call for Bharat bandh. As a result, those want to travel on roads may face problem. The employee unions TSRTC backing the shutdown the call, the buses were confined to depots. Hyd police have imposed restrictions on traffic in several parts of Hyderabad city. TRS working president KTR will participate in this programme at Burgula Gate in Shadnagar.
