Samantha Akkineni is playing the titular role in an upcoming pan Indian film Shaakuntalam, which is being helmed by Gunasekhar of Rudhramadevi fame. Until recently, the shoot of Gunasekhar’ directorial venture was happening in an specially erected set in Hyderabad but it was halted due to the Coronavirus scare that has rocked India.
Sufiyum Sujatayum fame Dev Mohan is making his Telugu debut with the film in which he essays the role of Dushyant. Talking about being a part of periodic drama Shaakuntalam, Samantha had said it is a gift to her from the producer Dil Raju and Gunasekhar as she has always wanted to essay the role of either a princess or a lead in a period entertainer.
According to the latest report, the VFX part of Shaakuntalam is going to be top-notch. Earlier Earlier Gunasekhar was trolled for Anushka Shetty starrer Rudramadevi’s VFX and this time, he does not want to take any risk and he has taken the VFX part as a prestige issue. So this time Samantha is risk free.
Earlier during an interview Gunasekhar had said, “ I have no doubt that Samantha Akkineni and Dev Mohan will leave an impression as Shakuntala and Dushyant.” On the otherside, Samantha is waiting for the release of the web drama The family Man 2.
