Dr. Kamala Selvaraj, the daughter of Gemini Ganesan who watched the Tamil version of Mahanati- Nadigaiyar Thilagam’ is not happy with the portrayal of Gemini Genesan in Mahanati. Kamala Selvaraj complained, “What has been shown in Mahanati is a one-sided version that glorifies only Savitri and bluntly ignores other aspects of her life.”

If there is a villain in Mahanati¸ it is neither Gemini Ganesan nor series of conscious, if ill-considered, choices made by Savitri. Mahanati blames Savitri’s plight on that vague thing called destiny, fate, naseeb, kismat, karma, bhagya, takdeer.
