Sunanda Pushkar mail to Shashi Tharoor: No will to live, taken as a dying declarationSunanda Pushkar wrote an email to her husband and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and said, “I have no desire to live … all I pray for is death”.  She wrote this email on 8th January, nine days before she was found dead in her suite at a luxury hotel in Delhi.

Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava said to Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal that there was sufficient evidence to proceed against Lok Sabha member Shashi Tharoor  and requested the court to accept the chargesheet and issue summons to  Mr. Tharoor as an accused in the case.

 After submitting 3,000 page charge sheet, prosecutor informed the court that Sunanda Pushkar was depressed and on 8th January 2014, she expressed her desire to die. Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava also read the line, “I have no will to live. All I pray for is death.” Sunanda Pushkar’s mails and messages on social media have been taken as her dying declaration.

The police also said the court that Sunanda Pushkar was died due to poisoning and 27 tablets of Alprax were found in her room but it was not yet clear how many pills she had consumed. Sunanda also alleged that her husband was having an affair with a Pakistani journalist.

The 51-year-old Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in the suite of a Leela hotel in south Delhi on 17th January, 2014. The special probe team has found that Shashi Tharoor  ignored and disconnected her calls in the days before her death. Two days prior to Sunanda Puskar’s death, heated arguments were exchanged between the couple on a flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi, the police said. The police had lodged an FIR on 1st January  2015 against unidentified persons under 302 (murder) of IPC.

According to prosecution sources, the chargesheet has mentioned that Sunanda Pushkar was allegedly subjected to mental as well as physical cruelty. Shashi Tharoor has not been arrested in the case. After hearing, the court set 5th June to deliver its order on accepting the charges against Shashi Tharoor.
