Sanju targeting media?

Sanju targeting mediaSanju, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, has only tried to showcase Sanjay Dutt’s innocent side, bashing the media for spoiling his big image. Is Sanju targeted media?

Sanju, the biopic of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, starring Ranbir Kapoor, directed by Rajukumar Hirani, was released yesterday and received fantastic response by the movie lovers.  Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi’s script stubbornly focuses on clearing the air around Sanjay Dutt’s criminal past. Rajkumar Hirani picked the media as the antagonist. The one line repeated throughout the three-hour runtime of the film Sanju is “I’m not a terrorist.”

In 1993, right after the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, Sanjay Dutt, aka Sanju, was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA). He was served his jail term after the Supreme Court sentenced him to five years in jail due to his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.  After the arrest, Sanjay Dutt had confessed that mafia don, Abu Salem, had visited his home in January 1993 with Samir Hingora and Hanif Kadawala, proprietors of Magnum Video and alleged close associates of underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim. Sanjay Dutt had said that they had brought three AK-56 rifles with ammunition, and he had kept one to protect his family which was receiving threats following the Babri Masjid demolition in December 1992.

In March 2006, gangster Abu Salem confessed that he had delivered AK-56 rifles to Sanjay Dutt.  In 2016, when Sanjay Dutt, was released from prison he said that he was not a terrorist and wanted to leave behind the bitter memories of being convicted in connection with the 1993 serial blasts case.

The Public pay more attention to negative and sensational news than to positive news!  After the arrest of Sanjay Dutt,  news papers published the article with question marks for creating the sensation, which led people to think that Sanjay Dutt is a terrorist!

Sanjay Dutt was cleared of all terrorism related charges in 2007, but the TADA court sentenced him to six years of imprisonment for the illegal possession of weapons.  Judge Pramod Kode announced, “You are not a terrorist,” while handing out the judgement. A scene right out of a Bollywood film… a scene that exists in RajKumar Hirani’s biopic on Sanju aka Sanjay Dutt.
