On Monday , Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said, “ Telangana and Bihar, among some other states, were just not doing enough testing to detect coronavirus positive cases. These states needed to be named and shamed.”
During an event organized by National Council of Applied Economic Research, Amitabh Kant revealed, “Why few states like Telangana, Bihar just not doing enough testing and not putting out data. Consequences of this will be seen in 2-3 months. All these states, which are not doing testing, need to be shamed.” He added, “There was no other solution to contain the pandemic other than testing. Testing is really the key. This requires partnership with the private sector as the battle against coronavirus.”
Indian Council of Medical Research claimed that 1,20,92,503 samples have been tested till 13th July and about 2,86,247 samples were tested yesterday. Telangana has 36,221 Coronavirus cases while Andhra Pradesh has 31,103 cases.
Meanwhile Andhra Pradesh government has added Telangana and Karnataka states to the high-risk category States and have issued fresh guidelines for home and institutional quarantine for both domestic and international travellers. Telangana and Karnataka – classified as low-risk in the earlier categorization – join New Delhi, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu as States with a Coronavirus high-risk.
