Yatra, the biopic of late Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, is progressing at brisk pace in the direction of Anando Brahma fame Mahi V Raghav. Malayalam star Mammootty is playing the role of YSR in this upcoming much prestigious project Yatra. The teaser proves that Mammootty is fit in YSR’ role. The teaser shows that how YSR’s Padayatra started. One of the highlights of 54 sec teaser is undoubtedly the background voice which says how YS gets determined to do Padayatra. Mix Mammotty’s gateup with K’s background score, you have something that is beyond explanation. It’s pure magic!
Yatra is jointly bankrolled by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy under the banner of 70mm Entertainments banner. According to the director Mahi V Raghav, Yatra will focus especially on the period from 1999-2004 when YSR undertook his famous Padayatra which ultimately proved instrumental in catapulting him to a comprehensive victory in the 2004 polls.
According to the latest buzz, Jagapathi Babu will be seen in the role of YSR’s father YS Raja Reddy. Recently the makers roped anchor turned Anasuya Bharadwaj to play the role of a politician from the Kurnool district. Suhasini Maniratnam will play the Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy and Rao Ramesh is essaying in the role of K.V.P.Ramachandra Rao who was a very close associate of YSR.
Mahi V Raghav started the shoot of Yatra on 20th June and will go on till September. Unlike the way most biopics are structured, Yatra is not the story of (YS Rajasekhar Reddy)YSR’s life and times but focuses on his 1470 km long padyatra in 2003 from Chevella to Ichchapuram, a defining moment that changed the course of politics in Andhra Pradesh.
